My fortes are eccentric, moody and atmospheric pieces.
Most works are done in a smaller scale, ranging from 2-3 inches to 4-5 but size is negotiable.
I offer a wide variety of stylizations from blackwork to fineline.
Larger canvas works are done in oil paint with a mixture of many other mediums such as acrylic paint, paint markers and pencil crayon.
Ink and graphite works have the most flexibility options for commissions and are most affordable.
about
My Journey. My Goals. My Education.
Welcome to my site! I am Richie Bourova, an artist that is passionate about the environment, social change and creative expression.
I started my journey doodling and sketching in various little notebooks when I was little, believing that a professional artistic career wasn’t in the cards for me. But, after a very interesting couple of years at York University, pursuing my Psychology degree, I decided to try chasing my dreams and applied to OCAD.
I have made many new friends and learned from respectable professors, mentors and peers as I developed my own style and my own brand of art.
OCAD has allowed me to flourish into an Illustrator with confidence and the ability to communicate my ideas with the world elegantly and concisely.
Many of my inspirations come from my cultural Russian background, my love for reading in English and French, nature that I see all around me and little marvels that the world seems to forget sometimes.
Ideally, I would love to work towards bettering the environment for all animals, plants and people. I want my work to foster a love and appreciation for all kinds of art, making sure that I reach all communities that are available to me to spread creativity.
I enjoy showing the process my work goes through before it becomes its final self. The sketch marks, the eraser stains and the lines add a sense of raw-ness to the art that I as a creator, have come to love about the world.
I love to work with color when it comes to bigger projects, as well as a variety of mediums. In a world where it is so easy to see the negative in life, I want to show vibrancy and show the restorative aspect that art holds.
People are touched by art and I believe that each person one day will find a piece that will be truly awakening for them. A piece that moves a person’s entire being just for a moment. I believe that this is what it means to be an artist. To create and to imagine beyond what we know into the fantastical.
